Many people have asked me the process to become a foster parent...it's a journey, a committment, a good thing to have friends doing it at the same time :)
1. We contacted CHILD SHARE which is a ministry that acts as an umbrella, resource, God send as you start the process and for the ongoing journey as you go through the process, and after the process.
2. We chose an agency to do our foster/adopt through. We chose Penny Lane.
3. We started in January and took classes at Penny Lane (with some friends from church, amen!) and that continued until the very end of February.
4. Forms, forms, forms....home visit to make sure everything and anything was locked away and safe. More paperwork, DMV records, proof that we are good people, parents, pet owners, citizens.....lots of paperwork. First Aid/CPR, fingerprints......it's a painstaking process but worth it.
5. Now we are waiting to start our home study which is when the social workers interview us as a couple, as individuals and talk to the kiddos about the journey we are starting.
6. Get cerftified
7. Wait for God's call
All in all this will probably be about a 6 month journey until we wait in faith for the call.
